Do You Need A Break?
Are you trying so hard to “make the best” of all this? We’ve been going through a lot in this country of ours…COVID, elections, school challenges…
During times of long-term stress such as the aftermath of natural disasters, long term illness and pandemics, we enter into into the fatigue phase. We are deep in the middle of the fatigue. We’re tired…all of us…parents, students, teachers…and yet….
We’re strong. We keep getting up in the morning, reaching for our coffee and doing “the best we can.” During November, a time of Giving Thanks, we put on our smiles and say, I’m grateful for… We work hard to bring feelings of gratitude into our lives.
What if…
What if we try something new? Our brains love a new sparkly object. Our brains love novelty. Our brains need.the.rest.
What if we take a few moments during the day. Stop wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.
Take a breath and breathe out slowly. Look at what you see. Be grateful for that. In that moment, let yourself be grateful for your desk, the sky, your car, your coffee, your clothes.
Look at your hands and be thankful. Look at your feet and be grateful. Realize that you can see and thank your eyes; you’re breathing, thank your lungs.
We take in so much. We do so much for others. Take a moment. Breathe out. Let your shoulders relax. Let your brain rest.
Set your timer every four hours or so and do a “Stop, Breathe and Be Grateful.” Your body will thank you.
