Mistakes Students Make When Buying School Supplies

We all love the fresh new start of a school year with colorful folders, binders, and new pens! We all get so excited about new beginnings and setting up our plan!

We know where everything is and set up our colorful binders. We have a plan that works…until it doesn’t.

The biggest mistake students make is not creating a school supplies system, they buy all kinds of colors and designs, and they all look amazing, but they don’t work for long. Here is a proven system from Teen Focused Coaching that works. Not just at the beginning, but all year, and for years to come.

At Teen Focused Coaching we COLOR CODE EVERYTHING! The brain can sense a color (even if you are color blind) far faster than we can process thinking about a subject or topic.

Here’s an example for your teen: For any science class, choose a color, let’s say green. You signed up for Biology. For that class you will have a Green Binder, a Green Spiral Notebook, and a Green Folder.

Think about early mornings… tossing books and binders into your backpack – you have Biology, so you grab everything Green!  Or you’re getting ready for your zoom class and you woke up late…Quick! Grab everything Green in two minutes, turn on the computer, and you’re ready to go!

Keeping school simple, and having a predictable system can make a lot of difference for our teens.  Their minds are preoccupied most of the time, and even simple tasks can seem complicated.  This system isn’t new, but it’s rarely used, and IT WORKS!
